July 31st: The Poison Tree

This crazy-looking woman begat me. And you wonder where I get it from. This picture demonstrates the first time she's worn jeans in probably 20 years. They're my old jeans, which makes me feel fat (self-perception) but I love seeing her looking happy and silly.

July 31st: My Left Foot

Random collection of single shoes on display at the corner of 133rd and Broadway. Who would take them? Why are they on offer?

July 30th: Not the Dress You're Looking For

For the bargain basement "sale" price of $27,000, this wedding dress could be yours!

July 29th: Blog as you Eat!

A huge dragon boat full of sushi, at the Blue Ribbon Brasserie in Brooklyn!

July 29th: White Piano Gloves

Love New York! Such eccentricities on an 100ยบ day!

July 29th: In a row

July 29th: The Old and the New

Columbus Circle has some of the most lovely mosaic tile work and finishes. I hope that this photo is depicting repairs on it, instead of the process of its replacement.

July 29th: Friends for Life (?)

Little girls on the subway, holding hands!

July 28th: Gravity Not Included

Saw this mannequin near Canal Street, and had to do a double take. Insert obvious commentary here.

July 28th: StretchNeck

One great thing about visiting a hair salon in an offbeat and trendy area of New York is getting to see the eclectic clothing and jewelry of the other clientele!

Case in point: This giraffe bracelet that I just love!

July 28th: Enterprising Homeless

This homeless guy had a sign that said "CAN I HAVE A BEER?" but when you went to take a photo, he'd turn it down and tell you to pay him a dollar.

Clever!

July 28th: Mixed Messages

In case of a fire, PLEASE RACE.

Perhaps a better acronym is in order?

July 27th: The Mannequin

Which one of these things isn't real?

July 27th: Seventies Surf

Drying my bathing suit on top of a borrowed towel, we've got that 70s flare.

July 27th: In Cash

This woman just paid for 2 iPads IN CASH. I wasn't quite quick enough to catch the cash on the table, but it was $1200 of 20s.

Rachel suggested that maybe she was a stripper. No wonder she'd need 2 touch screens...

July 27th: That's a Really Big Zucchini

When someone offers you a big zucchini, you can't say "no"

July 27th: Hilarious Zombies

It seems tough to book a 50th anniversary tour of comics when most of the advertised comedians are dead.
What about the fact that poor Catherine O'Hara is covered up under text while TIM MEADOWS is featured prominently?

In the right lighting, anyone can seem sad.

July 26th: What's Kitty afraid of?

MESS!!!
SO MUCH MESS!

Editor's Note: before you become horrified, neither this cat nor this mess is mine.  This has been a PETA-MESS advisory

July 26th: Reading Made Difficult

July 26th: This is Secretly a Time Machine

This little "nap sack" dispenser at a friend's workplace cracked me up, because it seemed like a vestige of the 1950s. And yet it still appears to be in use!

Evidence:

The names. Nap sack and Sanibag?

The nurse in her little cap. She looks like the meek obedient sister of Rosie the Riveter

The flower vase on the "nap sack" -- putting a flower on the bag isn't going to make you forget what's IN the bag.

July 26th: Instruction At Starbucks

Someone left some books at this Starbucks... what could they be?

THE DUMMY'S GUIDE TO ONLINE DATING!?!?

July 24th: Kitty Survivor

The only survivor of a messy massacre from moving. Cuter than a cockroach, Cassie perches atop the clutter.

July 24th: Les Beatles

This car made me think of one of my dearest friends, a tender Rutabega who loves Beatles, books and French.

July 23rd: Because he means it

No one wears a spiky hairdo like this "just because".

Check the guys at the bottom of the shot, too!

July 21st: Peanut Butter Face

Our neighbourhood is full of street kitties, but we cannot fit them into our Pokรฉball.

July 21st: Starbucks Fashion Part 2 - Electric Boogaloo

q

This woman was actually wearing RCA cables as earrings. At least they were yellow.

July 21st: EIGHT MORE INCHES

Somebody rich is coming to town, and they bought nicer TVs than ours. Two of them!

July 20th: The Silhouettah of a Clam

Walking through the projects, I found a single oyster shell by a tree trunk. We're a chicken wing neighbourhood

July 19th: The Telephone Game

Fancy hotel telephone outside of the elevators. Ring ring, snootiness calling ...

July 19th: The Dark Side (of coffee)

A photo I received via email today, that included the caption:

Darth Vader tried to steal my coffee! He would have drank it but he doesn't like half & half.  He likes his coffee on the dark side!!!!

July 18th: Thrill me, Fulfill me

Craft your own creature of the night

July 18th: Right Breast Fashion

Sport this. Bag zesty. Bra optional.

July 18th: Backhoe this

Nothing caps off a funeral for a mean woman by having the cemetary start to backhoe her grave while her family is still present, watching. A son puts his albatross to bed.

July 17th: Punnager

I am punny. This is a Punishirt. Photo courtesy of Brian.

July 17th: Mahna mahna

Nothing so fun as an underwater camera!

July 17th: Glamourpuss

I have really beautiful friends. Sometimes all you need to wake you in the morning is a vibrantly colored hat.

July 16th: Ch-chomp

Chimpanzees get erections when food comes. Sometimes people should too.
